Oops.

Did Monday even happen? I had a rather (spontaneously) big weekend and I spent most of yesterday nursing a sore head and watching True Blood.

Luckily I returned to the land of the living today, more than happy to find spring on Sydney's doorstep. Though most of my day was spent inside the classroom, the sun and warm weather are more than welcome. Just as I got home, I heard the news bulletin congratulating Sydney for surviving one of our coldest winters. If you're from the northern hemisphere, please don't roll your eyes!

So, on the eve of the first day of spring, here's a small collection of what I want (or wish) to be wearing these coming months! I can't enough of simple white shirts, khaki and blush-tinted bits and pieces and sandals. And floral.

But I draw the line at stripes...

I love that feeling.

You know, the one you get when you leave the office on a Friday afternoon and realize you have the whole weekend ahead of you. I've got that right now.

I've had my first wine for the weekend and I'm feeling very content. It's still windy and cold outside which doesn't make me feel so bad for wanting to stay tucked up in bed the whole weekend.

Have a good weekend everyone, wherever you are and whatever you do. If, like me, your weekend is looking a little on the quiet side, here's a few blogs I've discovered (or re-discovered) this week.

This film clip has me begging for warmer weather. You know, the same weather we Sydneysider's were teased by last week?

Swimming, bare feet, shorts and road trips aren't the same when it's 13 degrees and there's a chance the wind could sweep you away.

Doesn't the boy remind you of Ryan Gosling? I'm sure I've seen him somewhere before, I just can't put my finger on it...

Pay day, glorious pay day.

Once I get rent out of the way, I plan on spending up big at asos. My shopping basket is already full! It's time to ween myself off the winter staples (goodbye black leggings, blazers and scarves) and get my wardrobe ready for the upcoming warmer months. I think it's best to be prepared for 40-degree weather Sydney is always 'shocked' by.

This post from one of my favourite blogs, So Much To Tell You, has given me a few ideas and some inspiration. It is almost time for a spring clean after all.

To enjoy cooking, I need time.

The time to prepare, the time to combine all the ingredients and the time to sit back and enjoy the smell of my apartment, without my stomach rumbling and demanding it's dinner.

When I've had a horrible day, such as today, (think dry skin, hair that wanted to go in six different directions and the need to be in eight places at once), I can do one of two things. Order in or pull up my sleeves to create something that, with a little effort and love, will be completely satisfying.

Tonight, my dinner will be the latter. Gnocchi (sadly not home-made) in a white wine, tomato, olive and basil sauce and perhaps, as a treat, some cookies and cream ice-cream. It's a little indulgent but if you can't treat yourself after a bad day, when can you?

I am having a bad hair day.

It's Monday and I'm starting the week with bad hair. I hope the oily, knotted mess piled on top of my head isn't a sign of things to come.

Maybe I should look at things from the glass half-full perspective and take this opportunity to book an appointment with my God of a hairdresser. I can't imagine how horrified he'd be if I went in and asked him to ombre my locks. I can always dream though...

Friday, finally!

The weather in Sydney has been beautiful. Here's hoping it continues tomorrow so Election Day isn't all bad.

It's been another long day so tonight the boy and I are going to our local Vietnamese restaurant to relax, catch up and welcome the weekend. I've also rented Tom Ford's A Single Man to watch when I come home full of Vietnamese, ready to curl up on the lounge.

Have a great weekend everyone! And if you're in Sydney (and the rest of Australia), don't forget to vote and enjoy the sunshine!

P.S. Check out this insanely cute video of a 3 year old reciting Litany by Billy Collins. Amazing!

I'm having one of those days.

I attribute it to a lack of coffee, a brain-draining morning, a boss that just so happens to be my mother, a boyfriend that can't (or rather won't) cook and unrequited lust.

Add to the mix the fact it's almost, but not quite, Friday and you'll find one unhappy, little vegemite in the shape of me.

So I'm going to cook up some gnocchi, listen to some Matt Walters and hope the next 24 hours fly by with relative calm. Until then...

I wore my favourite leopard-print scarf to work today and I wondered, if denim-on-denim managed to become a trend, could leopard-on-leopard?

I'm obsessed. It's fabulously daring, luxurious and attention-grabbing. I love a flash of leopard print when I'm wearing uninspired all black. When my colleague graciously commented on my scarf, I replied if there wasn't a chance I would look like a lunatic, I'd wear nothing but leopard print.

Forget your go to red lipstick, your dab of Chanel perfume or those platform heels that make your legs look ridiculously long. Leopard print is all you need.

I have wanderlust.

I have had it for a long time.

I went overseas for the first time in December 2008 and arrived home weeks later a changed woman. Well, sort of. But since then, the desire to pick up my passport, board a plane and fly away has never disappeared. I've been to Paris, London, Rome, Venice and Hong Kong among many but it is still not enough.

Wouldn't life be so much easier if we could just click our fingers and wish ourselves to another place?

Hello Sydney,

You are certainly warmer than Melbourne.

No matter how much I love to pack my bags, board that plane and traipse foreign cities, there's nothing like coming home.

So now that I've had my True Blood fix, it's time to shower and curl up in bed with this.

I'm off to Melbourne tonight.

It might be colder than Sydney, but whenever the opportunity to vintage shop in hidden shops, eat tiny cupcakes by the Yarra River, take the tram to St Kilda and people watch from my favourite cafe on Degraves Lane arises, I can never say no.

Have a great weekend!

I have been dreaming about these pretty Lita's since I first laid eyes on them. That should quiet down those who don't believe in love at first sight.

Do I dare take the plunge?

I was crying out for winter a few months ago, but now I'm counting down the days until spring. Longer days, lazing at the beach and bare feet.

I can't wait.
